Kate Burke
Kate Burke has worked in Fine Arts for thirty years. She is predominantly a relief carver and painter, her mediums include painted relief carvings in cast stone, bronze and cast iron, as well as mosics. Kate Burke has had commissions from the Minnesota State Arts Council and the Cities of Minneapolis and Boston working in cast iron, bronze and painted cast carvings.
From the bronze bricks in Boston to the artistic manhole covers in downtown Minneapolis, Kate Burke has been recognized in both public art as well as for her painting. She is listed in the Smithsonian Archives of Painting and Sculpture.
Kate Burke has had her works recognized by Monsanto for her innovative use of Foam-Cor to create her unique three-dimensional landscapes. These works are both painted and carved and have actual depth ranging from two to six inches giving a powerful and life-like illusion of space. The overall result is both dynamic and playful.
